The Williamstown Middle School Lady Demons split a pair with visiting Walton-Verona on Thursday, November 20 in girls' basketball action.

 

The 7th-grade Lady Demons played right with Walton for much of the game before foul trouble took its toll late in the third quarter and throughout the fourth of a 34-18 defeat. Meanwhile, the 8th-grade Lady Demons jumped on Walton early and never let up, extending their lead throughout in a 44-30 win.

 

7TH GRADE

Walton 34, WMS 18

 

With multiple players in foul trouble, Williamstown was unable to maintain the momentum it had in the first half and was outscored 13-2 in the third period, which allowed Walton-Verona to take an advantage that was too much for the Lady Demons to overcome.

 

Emma Gutman led Williamstown in scoring with seven points, including a key 3-pointer in the second period when she scored five of her points.

 

Ryan Parsons was next for the Lady Demons with three points, followed by Tabi Jordan,

Williamstown's Chris Parsons (12) goes up strong with a shot against  Walton-Verona. Parsons scored points in both the 7th- and 8th-grade games for the Lady Demons.

8TH GRADE

WMS 44, Walton 30

 

Williamstown took an early lead and never looked back, leading from beginning to end versus the Lady Bearcats.

 

Justice Chambers and Kiki Johnson led the Lady Demons' offensive charge with a combined 27 points, only three fewer than the entire Walton-Verona team. Chambers led the way with 16, including five in the first quarter and six in the fourth. Johnson  poured in 11, which included six points in the third quarter.

 

Emma Gutman was next for the winners with seven points. She hit a momentum-changing 3-pointer in the first quarter to help the Lady Demons gain an early edge.

 

Chris Parsons chipped in four points, with teammates Tabi Jordan, Haley Middleton and Delaney Kemper scoring two apiece.

Williamstown's Justice Chambers (11) eyes the basket on a drive to the hoop  in action against Walton-Verona. Chambers led her 8th-grade team to the win with a game-high 16 points.
