Seventh-grade Demons top Eminence behind Gray's 12 points, McCain's 11

Williamstown's 7th-grade basketball Demons had one of their better offensive performances of the season in a 46-36 victory over Eminence in recent action.

 

Williamstown jumped on top early and was in control 14-8 after one period and 24-14 at the half. The Demons kept it going in the second half and led 32-26 before finishing strong by outscoring Eminence 14-10 over the final six minutes.

 

Tucker Gray had one of his best games of the season with 12 points, all in the first half. He had six in the first quarter and six in the second period, including a pair of 3-pointers.

 

 

Micah McCain was next for the winners with 11 points, including six in the first quarter. Preston Widener added nine points for the Demons, including five in the final quarter.

 

Isiah Magee contributed four points to the Demons' offensive efforts, followed by teammates Caden Tien, Keene Simpson, Ben Kinsey, Patrick Day and Elijah Walters with two each.

 

The 7th-grade Demons also defeated Eminence in another recent game, 32-29. Kobe Easterwood, who did not score in the earlier contest, led the Demons in the rematch with 10 points. He was followed by Isiah Magee with eight.

 

Preston Widener scored six points for the winners. Micah McCain followed with four. Tucker Gray and Elijah Walters rounded out the Williamstown scoring with two apiece.

 

Despite some impressive play, Williamstown lost both 8th-grade games versus Eminence. In both games, the Demons played right with their opponent but had one bad quarter that changed the game.

 

In the first game, Williamstown got 15 points from Jonas Alger and nine from Matthew Rothwell. Bryson Stanley was next with five points for the Demons, with teammates Corey Fryman and Kobe Easterwood adding two each.

 

In the second game, Williamstown was down six at the half, 18-12, before falling apart in the second half of a lop-sided loss. No further details or scoring was available for this game.
