Jonas Alger and Matthew Rothwell combined for 35 points to lead the Williamstown Middle School 8th Grade Demons to a dominating 50-36 win over Carroll Co. in recent action.

 

Alger, who was held to just four points in the first half, exploded for 18 in the second half, including 10 in the third quarter, on his way to a 22-point performance. Rothwell carried a lot of the load in the first half with seven points and finished with 13.

 

Cole Kemper was strong inside for the Demons with eight points, followed by Chase Turner with three, including Williamstown's only 3-pointer. Patrick Smith and Cole Kightlinger finished with two each for the winners.

 

Williamstown was on top 12-8 after one quarter and was still in control 18-16 at the half. The Demons started to pull away in the second half and were on top 34-29 going into the final period when Williamstown dominated by outscoring Carroll Co. 16-7 to seal the win.

 

Williamstown was not as fortunate in the 7th-grade game, falling 38-32. The Demons were equal to Carroll Co. through three quarters before faltering down the stretch.

 

The Demons were paced in scoring by Preston Widener with 11 points, followed by Tucker Gray with five and Isiah Magee with four.

 

Elijah Walters was next for Williamstown with three points, with teammates Brendan Morris and Keene Simpson contributing two each, and Nash Smith, Kobe Easterwood and Patrick Day one apiece.
