The Williamstown Demons 7th- and 8-grade basketball teams split a pair of games on the road at Carroll Co. on November 4th.

 

The Demons lost the 7th-grade contest 36-26 before the 8th-grade team ended the night with a win, 41-33.

 

7TH GRADE

Carroll Co. 36, WMS 26

 

Williamstown was slow out of the gates and scored just two points in the first quarter as Carroll Co. built a lead that reached double digits early in the second period. Carroll Co. was on top 11-2 after one quarter and 22-10 at the half.

WMS Demons split road trip with Carroll

The Demons again struggled out of the locker room with just two points in the third quarter to fall behind 28-12, which was too much for the Demons to overcome despite winning the fourth-quarter scoring battle 14-8.

 

Williamstown was led in scoring by Preston Widener with nine points, followed by Kobe Easterwood with five and Nash Smith with four.

 

Also contributing points for the Demons were Kenne Simpson, Ben Kinsey, Patrick Day and Elijah Walters with two points each.

 

8TH GRADE

WMS 41, Carroll Co. 33

 

Williamstown dug itself out of an early hole by scoring double digit points in each of the last three quarters.

 

Trailing 8-5 after one period, Williamstown scored 12 points in each of the next three periods to lead 17-14 at the half and 29-24 after three.

 

The Demons were led in scoring by Chase Turner, who had his best game of the season with 12 points. He was followed closely by teammate Jonas Alger, who scored 10 for the winners.

 

Cole Kepmer was big in the paint with seven points, while teammates Matthew Rothwell and Bryson Stanley chipped in four apiece. Patrick Smith added two points for the Demons, with Cole Kightlinger and Corey Fryman contributing one each.
