After taking step forward last season,

can Demons' offense continue trend?

With the state's third-leading scorer, David Jump, torching defenses on a nightly basis, the Williamstown Demons' offense took a step forward last season, averaging 54.3 points per game -- nine more than it scored the previous year and the second most for the program since the 2008/09 season.

The Demons' 1,630 total points for the season were the most for the team in five years and the second highest total in the last decade.

With David Jump gone, along with fellow graduates Chaz Jordan and J.J. Fernandez, the question is, can Williamstown's offense continue to perform at the same level or will it regress? Only time will tell, but the pieces are certainly in place for the trend to continue with freshman Brennan Stanley and sophomore Jon Jump already well-seasoned after starting a year ago. Both displayed the ability to be able to put points on the board in bunches and will be counted on heavily in the Demons' offensive plan.

Other key returners who are expected to step up and help fill the void left by graduation include senior Cameron Varner and sophomore Dustin Smith, who both saw time in the starting lineup a year ago.

But the question remains, will the WHS offense be able to keep up with last year's pace? Or will the Demons' even need to score on that level to win games?

For the answer to these questions and more, stay tuned to WSR as we begin our Preseason Hoops Preview in the coming weeks.
