The Williamstown Lady Demons picked up in 2015 where they left off in 2014 with a dominating 53-33 win over Henry County on January 3.

 

The victory upped Williamstown's record to 7-4 overall with five wins in their last six games.

 

Despite a slow start, Williamstown was able to run away from the host team in the second half and build their lead to 29.

 

Williamstown Coach Kasey Mason found many positives in the game, including the Lady Demons' ball movement and the fact that the team allowed Henry Co. just one offensive rebound in the first half.

 

"We started out a little flat, but at halftime we had 11 assist on 18 field goals and I was very happy about that," she said. "The girls are distributing the ball really well and making the extra passes with really good ball movement."

"We had to make some adjustments defensively at halftime and did a good job collapsing on Payton and completely took her out of the game offensively," said Mason.

 

Leading by only one after the first period, 17-16, Williamstown's defense flexed its muscle and held the host Ladycats scoreless in the second period to take a commanding 33-16 advantage into the locker room at the half.

 

Williamstown had three players score in double digits, paced by Michaela Kennedy's game-high 19, which included three 3-pointers. The sophomore point guard also had four rebounds in the game.

 

Katie Cheek was next for the winners with 14 points, which included six in each of the second and third periods. The junior also had four rebounds.

 

Rachel Montgomery was strong out of the gates with six points in the first quarter on the way to a total of 12 for the Lady Demons. She was also strong inside with a team-high six rebounds.

 

Olivia Souder contributed four points and four rebounds for the Lady Demons, followed by Haley Howe with three points and three rebounds and Lynzie Cheek with two points.

 

Senior Ashely Marksbury pulled down five rebounds for her team, followed by Kiki Johnson with three, Justice Chambers and Emily Ison with two each, and Megan Perkins with one.
