Williamstown Elementary School teams were well-represented in opening day action with a record of 12 wins and 4 losses. Below are wrap-ups of that action.

 

GIRLS

 

Williamstown 2nd/3rd Lady Demons (Kightlinger)

The Williamstown 2nd/3rd Grade Lady Demons (Kightlinger) split a pair of games, winning in impressive fashion against CMZ/MCE (Baumgartner) 30-12 before falling 8-6 vs Dry Ridge (Woods).

 

A total of seven players scored in the win over CMZ/MCE, led by Sophie Kightlinger, Abby Knarr, Josie Bates and Alexis Day with six each. Zoey Webster, Grayson Gutman, and Katelynn Murphy added two each for the winners.

 

Webster and Day both scored points for Williamstown in the second game.

 

Williamstown 4th/5th Lady Demons (Hammons)

The Williamstown 4th/5th Grade Lady Demons (Hammons) won both of their games in opening day action, beating Sherman Elementary (Epperson) 16-15 and Mason-Corrinth Elementary (Scroggins) 25-24.

 

The Lady Demons had a balanced scoring attack in the win over Sherman with five players putting points on the board. Addyson VanHolten led the winners with six points,

Williamstown Elementary enjoys success in opening day action

 followed by Brooklyn Hammons with four, and Sara Sanders, Gracie Crump and Karlee Dungan with two apiece.

 

In the win over MCE, it was the Dungan-Hammons Show with the two combining for 23 points. Dungan scored a game-high 15 points, with Hammons dropping in eight for the winners. Sanders added two points to round out the Lady Demons’ scoring.

 

Williamstown 4th/5th Lady Demons (Fryman)

The Williamstown 4th/5th Grade Lady Demons (Fryman) made it look easy with a pair of impressive wins, 27-10 over CMZ (Wilcoxen) and 27-15 vs Dry Ridge (Riley).

BOYS

 

Williamstown 2nd/3rd Demons (Gutman)

The Williamstown 2nd/3rd Grade Demons (Gutman) won one and lost one in opening day action, but the win was a big win, 23-3 over CMZ (Gilbert).

 

E.J. Liggett, Wyatt Reed and Holten Schultz all scored points in the Demons’ loss to CMZ (Utter). A complete box score was not available for the win over CMZ (Gilbert).

 

Williamstown 2nd/3rd Demons (Jordan)

The Williamstown 2nd/3rd Grade Demons (Jordan) were in high gear on both offense and defense, running away from the competition in both games winning 35-6 over CMZ (Gilbert) and 19-6 over CMZ (Utter).

 

Noah Cox and Alex Jordan combined for 27 points, more than the other team combined, in the win over CMZ (Gilbert). Cox had a game-high 16, while Jordan poured in 11. Derrick Anderson was next for the winners with four points, followed by Malachi Donaldson and Malachi Perry with two each.

 

Williamstown 2nd/3rd Demons (McHolland)

A stingy defense combined with an explosive offense equaled two impressive victories for the Williamstown 2nd/3rd Grade Demons (McHolland), who won 25-3 over Dry Ridge (Brady) and 28-1 over MCE (Saylor).

 

Spencer Breeden and Colton Feagan led a balanced scoring attack for the Demons in the win over MCE (Saylor). Breeded led the way with 10, while Feagan chipped in eight. Luke McHolland and Kameron McHolland followed with six and four points, respectively.

 

Versus Dry Ridge, Breeden dominated with 17 points. Feagan was next with four, followed by L. McHolland and K. McHolland with two each.

 

Williamstown 4th/5th Demons (McCain)

The Williamstown 4th/5th Grade Demons (McCain) topped MCE (Gabbert) 30-14 but lost 26-13 to Dry Ridge (Riley) to go 1-1 on the day.

 

In one game, Aiden Ousley and Joel McCain were on top of their games with eight points each to lead the Demons. Ethan Gutman was solid on both offense and defense, finishing with four points, followed by Spencer Stephens, Bryce Van Holten and Derek Meece with two each.

 

Williamstown 4th/5th Demons (Varner)

The Williamstown 4th/5th Grade Demons (Varner) provided some of the day’s best action with two exciting games, winning 29-20 against Sherman Elementary (Duggins) before falling 18-14 against CMZ (Utter).

 

In the win, Aiden Johnson led the way for Williamstown with 14 points, followed by Gunner Feagan with 10. Jonny Howe was next with three points for the winners, with Mason Lewis and Cameron Baker scoring two each.

 

In the loss to CMZ (Utter) Johnson was once again the leader with 10 points. Mason and Feagan rounded out the WES scoring with two each.

Williamstown's Colton Feagan drives towards the basket for two points. Feagan was one of the day's most impressive players and helped his team to two wins.
