Walters' 14 points leads sixth-grade Demons to win over rival Grant Co.

Elijah Walters scored a game-high 14 points to lead the Williamstown Middle School sixth-grade Demons to an impressive 36-25 win over host Grant Co. in action this weekend.

 

Walters scored points in all four quarters of the game, the only player on either team to do so, including five in the first quarter and three in the second for eight first-half points.

 

Bryson Stanley was next for the winners with seven points, including five in the third quarter alone to help Williamstown start to pull away from the rival Braves. Stanley had a key 3-pointer in the period.

 

Tucker Gray added six points for the Demons by hitting two big 3-pointers in the final six minutes. Corey Kightlinger contributed five points, including a 3-pointer in the final period as well.

 

K. Held rounded out the Williamstown scoring with four points, hitting an important shot early in the first quarter and another in the critical part of the fourth as the Demons were pulling away.

7TH GRADE

Grant Co. 34, Williamstown 29

 

Williamstown led for most of the game and was still in control down the stretch until turnovers took their toll in the final minutes.

 

Preston Widener led Williamstown's offensive attack with eight points, followed by Micah McCain and Kobe Easterwood with seven each.

 

Tucker Gray and Isiah Magee were next for the Demons with three points apiece. Elijah Walters rounded out the scoring with one.

 

8TH GRADE

Grant Co. 46, Williamstown 27

 

Williamstown kept it close early and was trailing by just six early in the fourth quarter when Grant Co. took advantage of several Demon turnovers and missed shots to pull away in the final six minutes.

 

Jonas Alger led Williamstown in scoring with nine points, followed by Bryson Stanley with seven and Cole Kemper with five.

 

Cole Kightlinger was next for the Demons with three points, with Patrick Smith adding two and Kobe Easterwood one to round out the Williamstown scoring.
