WHS's Hannah Scroggins finishes 39th at state golf championships

Williamstown's Hannah Scroggins finished tied for 39th among  79 competitors at the Kentucky High School Athletic Association State Golf Championships.

Scroggins, who is a junior at Williamstown, shot a 24-over-par 168 in the two-day event held at the Bowling Green Country Club. She fired an 81 on the first day and an 87 on day two. She finished tied with Franklin-Simpson's Rachel Stewart and Henderson Co.'s Taylor Church.

Scroggins was among the leaders on day one, shooting a five-over-par 41 on the front nine. She was even after three holes and shot par on two more holes in the strong start. She was even better on the back nine on day one, shooting par on the first four holes to finish the day nine over par.
Round two got off to a rocky start for Scroggins, who had either a bogey or double bogey on all nine holes on the front nine before rebounding with a strong back nine that included a birdie on both the 12 and 13 holes. She also shot par on the 15th and 18th.
