Olivia Souder's near double-double powers Lady Demons past Owen Co.

Just one rebound shy of a double-double, sophomore Olivia Souder scored 19 points and pulled down nine rebounds to lead Williamstown past Owen Co. Friday.

 

Souder hit 63 percent of her shots versus the Lady Rebels, connecting on 7-of-11 from the field, including three-of-five from 3-point range.

 

Four players scored in double digits for the Lady Demons. Following Souder was junior guard Katie Cheek with 17 points. She hit six-of-10 shots from the field and all five of her free throw attempts.

 

Next for the winners was junior Rachel Montgomery with 13, followed by eighth-grader Kiki Johnson, who hit three-of-five shots from behind the arch, with 11 points and five rebounds.

 

Sophomore point guard Michaela Kennedy contributed nine points for the Lady Demons, followed by Justice Chambers with six points, Haley Howe with three, and Sydney Taylor with two.

Despite a season-high 30-point effort from sophomore Michaela Kennedy, the Williamstown Lady Demons came up short in an 82-70 loss at Walton-Verona.

 

Kennedy, one of the state's top 3-point shooters, hit six in the game, double her per-game average. She was also very good from the free throw line, hitting 8-of-11 shots from the charity stripe.

 

Katie Cheek was next for Williamstown with 14 points, followed by Rachel Montgomery with six, Justice Chambers five, Olivia Souder and Kiki Johnson three each, and Haley Howe two.

 

Johnson was strong under the boards for the Lady Demons with a team-high eight rebounds. Cheek, Souder and Montgomery pulled down five each, followed by Howe with three, and Chambers and Kennedy with two apiece.
