Lady Demons dominate Eminence in All A Classic opener, 65-21

One down, two to go.

 

Winning the regional All A Classic championship has been a goal of the Williamstown Lady Demons since before the season started. They took the first step in making that goal a reality on Monday with a dominating 65-21 win over Eminence at Trimble Co. High School.

 

Williamstown jumped on top early and never let up, leading from start to finish to advance to the semi-final round of the All A Classic. The Lady Demons will now face Gallatin Co. on Wednesday with a trip to Friday's championship awaiting the winner.

 

A total of nine players scored points for the Lady Demons, led by junior Rachel Montgomery with 15 points, which included a pair of 3-pointers. Fellow junior Katie Cheek was next with 11 points. The two combined for more points than the entire Eminence team.

 

Michaela Kennedy added eight points for the Lady Demons, followed by Kiki Johnson with seven, and Olivia Souder and Ashely Marksbury with six each.

Sydney Taylor and Haley Howe were next for the winners with five apiece, with Jenna Johnson rounding out the Lady Demons' scoring with two. Howe also hit a 3-pointer for Williamstown.

 

Marksbury led the Lady Demons under the boards with four rebounds, followed by teammates K. Johnson and J. Johnson with three each. Justice Chambers, Emily Ison, Kennedy, Megan Perkins and Souder all pulled down one board each.

In a game previously unreported, Williamstown suffered its first defeat of the new year, 65-37, on January 7 at Notre Dame.

 

The Pandas are traditionally one of the top teams in Kentucky, averaging 25 wins per season over the last three years, including finishing as the state runners up two seasons ago.

 

Sophomore Michaela Kennedy paced Williamstown in scoring with 16 points, which included four 3-pointers.

 

Rachel Montgomery was next with nine, followed by senior Ashely Marksbury with seven, Kiki Johnson with three, and Katie Cheek with two.
