After a disappointing loss at Owen Co., the Williamstown Junior Varsity Lady Demons have bounced back in impressive fashion with back-to-back wins over Pendleton Co. and Newport.

 

The Lady Demons outscored Pendleton Co. in three of the four quarters and tied the Lady Cats in the other for a 51-41 win, followed by a thrilling 26-25 victory over Newport in the Lady Demons' most recent action.

 

The two wins follow a 37-29 loss at Owen Co. in a game where the Lady Demons led for three-plus quarters before faltering down the stretch.

 

Williamstown 51, Pendleton Co. 41

Williamstown jumped on top early and led 15-10 after one quarter and 25-20 at the half. The Lady Demons were still on top, 34-29, before outscoring the host team 17-13 in the fourth quarter to seal the win.

 

Eighth-grader Kiki Johnson was a force inside for the winners with a game-high 20 points. Haley Howe was next with nine for the Lady Demons.

each for Williamstown, followed by Emily Ison and Lynzie Cheek with four apiece, and Olivia Souder and Jenna Johnson with two each.

Williamstown 26, Newport 25

Williamstown outscored Newport in each of the first three quarters and held a 22-12 advantage heading into the final period before holding off a furious Newport comeback attempt down the stretch.

 

Kiki Johnson and Olivia Souder hit a pair of free throws each in the final minutes to help Williamstown hold on for the win.

 

Johnson led the Williamstown offensive attack with 12 points, followed by Souder with nine.

 

Haley Howe added three for the winners, with teammates Emily Ison and Justice Chambers chipping in one apiece to round out the Lady Demons' scoring.

Owen Co. 37, Williamstown 29

Williamstown was on top 10-2 after one quarter before the host team turned it on and outscored the Lady Demons in each of the final three periods of the come-from-behind victory. The game was very close, with Williamstown still leading 18-14, heading into the final period when Owen Co. outscored the Lady Demons 23-11 to complete the comeback.

 

Kiki Johnson led Williamstown with 18 points, followed by Emily Ison with four.

 

Lynzie Cheek was next for the Lady Demons with three points, while Justice Chambers and Haley Howe chipping in two apiece.
